Mini skip hire
A mini skip is the smallest standard skip, holding 2 cubic yards (around 20 to 30 bin bags). It is the only standard size that fits a typical residential parking bay, which makes it the go-to for small one-off jobs: garden tidies, garage clear-outs, single-room DIY, or shifting one bulky item.

One thing to watch: the mini is weight-limited to about 2 tonnes, so heavy waste like soil or rubble fills the weight allowance long before the skip looks full. For dense waste, a 6-yard builders skip is usually the better call.
Mini or a 4-yard midi?
The 2-yard mini suits genuinely small jobs, up to about an afternoon of work. Step up to a 4-yard midi once the job runs to a full bathroom rip-out, a half-kitchen, or more than one room: the extra capacity (30-40 bin bags rather than 20-30) costs only a little more but saves booking a second skip. As a rule, if you are unsure between the two, the 4-yard usually works out cheaper than under-sizing and hiring twice.
